The Indian Medical Council (Professional Conduct, Etiquette and Ethics) Regulations 2002 were amended by the Medical Council of India with the prior approval of Government of India by inserting a new clause 6.8, which states that a doctor drug does not endorse any product of industry or public. Any study of the efficacy or rational products are introduced and / or through scientific bodies or published in appropriate scientific journals in an appropriate manner.
Although some preliminary observations have been made by the MCI, however, there is no concrete proposal to address the issue with the Department of Pharmaceuticals at this time.
