As Valentine’s Day approaches, some remember their relatives abroad with the help of their new families at Fort Bliss. They have obligations during the preparation of gifts and special cards that will be sent to relatives abroad.

“I try to send a little of everything,” said Emily Lambert. ”The snacks in his room, video games, and just a few fun little surprises.”

Lambert wants her husband Darren remember she is back in El Paso waiting, wanting, and loving. While he is deployed, it tries to cope with his absence. ”It changes from minute to minute and you start crying,” she said.

Lambert, with other military wives and mothers, rely on each other to cope with absence.

“We all want to be here for each other, so that children and wives know they have support and we are not alone,” said Kimberly McHugh.

They all have a message for their troops abroad: Happy Valentine’s Day!
