Animal stories – Girl, 9, gives gifts to the animals for birthday

The annual event for most children means inviting friends to a traditional feast with offerings of gifts. But Marissa and her mother, Dori White, decided this year to take this opportunity as a way of giving to those less fortunate.

He decided to forgo the typical gifts and instead of asking for donations to rescue the endangered animals Pender (PEAR), a group that finds new homes for homeless animals in the area.

The entire family, including dad Matthew White, brothers and Darius Darrien White, and sister Olivia, delivered a basket full of presents, March 14 at PEAR, the organization’s weekly adoption fair PetSmart in Wilmington.

Two of her rescue dogs – Snowball and Daisy came too, along with his friend of the family of Selena Curry. In the house were two more rescue dogs and a cat.
